Have you ever been inspired by a random act of kindness? Maybe you saw a heartwarming story on the news; maybe someone in front of you in line picked up the tab for your morning coffee in the spirit of “paying it forward”. Whatever it was, chances are it brightened your day.
With all the negative news surrounding us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it’s nice to be reminded that there is genuine good in the world. At Community Bank, we’re celebrating the good by observing “Random Act of Kindness Week”, an international initiative to spread positivity to others. While kindness should be on our minds and in our hearts day in and day out, this week — February 9–15 — gives us a special opportunity to examine what it means to be kind more closely.
There are hundreds of different ways to show kindness throughout the day to yourself, to those you know and even those you don’t. Not all acts of kindness require large donations of money or grand gestures, either; spreading kindness can be as simple as giving someone a smile or taking an extra minute to learn something new about them.
As we kick off Random Act of Kindness Week, we challenge you to join us! Here are some quick, easy things you can do to brighten someone’s day today!
