Celebrating their 40th anniversary, Sagepoint Living Services, is stronger than ever. With a dedicated team, they are able to provide the needed care and support for seniors and their families, throughout the Southern Maryland region. They not only provide living for seniors but rehabilitation, in-home care, adult day care and so much more. As this week’s Friday Focus, we caught up with Kelsey Pearson, Marketing Coordinator for Sagepoint Living Services, to share in the joy of their success stories and discover some of the fun contest they throw. Keep reading and learn how you can get involved!
Q: Tell us about your organization (who you serve, what you do, etc.)
A: At Sagepoint Senior Living Services, we are a community-focused, non-profit organization dedicated to serving Southern Maryland seniors and their families. Sagepoint offers a continuum of services that no one else in the region can match. At every point in senior care, you can rely on a wide array of services, innovative programs and homelike environments. The services we provide to seniors and their families include – Adult Day Services, Assisted Living, Home Care, Long-term Care, Memory Care and Rehabilitation.
Q: What is your favorite “moment” (example of how your organization helped)?
A: At Sagepoint, our rehabilitation team takes extra steps to get you back on your feet. See below “true success story.”
A 79 year old male who was admitted to Sagepoint Living Services following hospitalization for fractured Vertebrae. Upon evaluation by Physical and Occupational therapies, limitations were noted in balance, strength, endurance, functional self-care and mobility. These deficits significantly impacted his ability to safely perform activities of a daily living and functional mobility tasks.
Physical therapy focused on increased strength and mobility. Occupational therapy targeted improvement on activities of living skills. He was very motivated to improve his mobility and independence.
He was able to resume a productive life at home with his supportive wife. He looked forward to returning home to spend time with his wonderful extended family. He especially enjoyed working with his physical therapist, Sheldon.
Q: What is your biggest challenge?
A: As a non-profit organization that has been around for 40 years, it is sometimes a struggle to keep up with the bells and whistles of for-profit senior care providers. In efforts to lessen this challenge, we have given Sagepoint Senior Living Services a facelift that really communicates life. We are also in the process of building our new rehabilitation wing which will boast private rooms and a modern design.
Q: Are there any upcoming events?
A: We are currently running our first ever Images of Aging photo contest. Entries were accepted until Monday, February 29th and judging began March 1 on our Facebook page. For more information, visit www.sagepointcare.org/photocontest. Also, this year marks our 40 Year Anniversary serving Southern Maryland seniors and their families. We will be celebrating throughout the year and also opening our brand new rehabilitation wing, so be sure to look out for upcoming events!
Q: How can people get involved with your organization?
A: We are always in need of volunteers to help with a variety of tasks including arts and crafts, gardening, entertainment, religious services, friendly visits, field trips, games and much more! If you are interested in helping out, please fill out a volunteer application on our website at https://www.sagepointcare.org/about-us/volunteering/. We also welcome donations and sponsorships!
