Community Corps' Upcoming Service Tour

Community volunteersWhere are you off to this summer? If you’re in and around the King George and tri-county area you might run into our busy band of Community Corps volunteers as the group marches along its summer and fall service tour.

Out in Full Force

On Sunday June 30, our volunteers will “help make history” at the Sotterley Plantation’s Independence Day Celebration. The Community Corps will be part of a group nearly 250 in number working hard to help ensure a fun and educational experience for all the families visiting the picturesque Riverside Pavilion.

Because the summer wouldn’t be complete without an outdoor sporting event, our volunteers will be setting-up, cleaning-up, and playing at the Annual Community Kickball Tournament. The tournament, now in its third year, benefits the Community Foundation of Southern Maryland – an organization aiming to make our community a better place to live and give.

This fall, our Community Corps team will once again lend a hand to the United Way’s Day of Caring in King George, Calvert, St. Mary’s and Charles counties. Throughout the Day, volunteers will assist non-profit agencies’ projects in any number of ways, from labeling and stuffing envelopes to landscaping and power washing. Taking part in the Day of Caring is long regarded by the team as a prime example of “our longstanding tradition of giving back to the community.”

In addition to these dates, our Corps are also in the initial planning stages for a blood drive this fall.

We hope to see you at one of our many upcoming events!
